여름이었을 것이다

 

여름이었을 것이다. 파주 출판 단지에 갔었다. 무슨 일로 갔었는지는 잊었지만 사진은 남아 있다. 슬리퍼를 끌며 저 언덕에 올랐다.

 

그리고 언덕 아래를 바라보았다. 아이들이 놀이터에서 놀고 있었다. 놀이터 가장자리 벤치에는 어른들이 앉아 아이들의 모습을 지켜보고 있었다.

 

햇살 같은 추억이 짙은 갈색의 기억으로 변했지만, 어른들이 우리를 온전히 지켜주지는 못했지만, 우리 모두에게는 노는 것이 직업인 연초록의 시절이 있었다, 고 믿고 싶다.

It must have been summer. I went to Paju Publishing Complex. I forgot what I went for, but the picture remains. I pulled up my slippers and climbed up that hill.

 

And I looked down the hill. The children were playing in the playground. Adults were sitting on the bench at the edge of the playground and watching the children.

 

Although memories like sunshine turned into dark brown memories, adults did not protect us completely, but I want to believe that there were light green days when playing was a job for all of us.
